  • A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is a comprehensive assessment of a person’s level of function and capability across daily domains. The FCA process involves a range of standardised and non-standardised assessments and an associated report to highlight a person’s current capabilities, future goals and aspirations, and recommended level of support and services for upcoming NDIS plans.

  • Assistive Technology includes equipment or devices that help you perform daily activities more safely or independently. Your Occupational Therapist will assess your needs and goals and will trial and prescribe the right equipment for you. Common assistive technology includes:

    • Manual and power wheelchairs

    • Showering and toileting equipment

    • Alternative seating

    • Electric style beds

    • Pressure care equipment

    • Transfer aids

  • Home modifications include making physical adaptations to your home environment to increase accessibility, independence and safety within the home. This may look like:

    • Handrails or grab rails

    • Ramps or lifts

    • Home automation

    • Bathroom or kitchen modifications

  • In addition to Functional Capacity Assessments, our Occupational Therapists can support in identifying your Home and Living needs. This is inclusive of:

    • Supported Independent Living (SIL): determining level of supports for daily living.

    • Specialised Disability Accomodation (SDA): determining property types and features to meet individual needs.

  • A manual handling care plan is a procedural document that highlights recommendations for the safe moving and transferring of a person. Your Occupational Therapist can help create an individualised care plan based on equipment and personal needs to minimise the risk of injury to participants and carers.

  • Our Occupational Therapists can help you relearn skills or adapt to neurological changes following a neurological event such as a stroke or acquired brain injury. Our Occupational Therapists can support in:

    • Upper limb rehabilitation

    • Cognitive retraining

    • Perceptual retraining

  • Capacity building therapy involves a combination of skill development and task-specific practice to increase functional independence or participation in activities of daily living. Your Occupational Therapist can work with you to build your skills, participation or independence in:

    • Personal care (e.g. showering, dressing)

    • Household tasks (e.g. cooking, laundry)

    • Community tasks (e.g. navigating transport, shopping)
